After twelve years of waiting, I finally took the leap into my master's program. Looking back now, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. Through EDLD 5302 and EDLD 5304, I've discovered that true learning isn't just about absorbing information—it's about transforming your entire approach to education and life itself.
This compilation represents the culmination of my work in EDLD 5302, my comprehensive collection of work that demonstrates the power of embracing growth in education. Here, you will find concepts such as growth mindset, learning manifesto, COVA, and the creation of professional learning networks, all of which have significantly changed my approach to education.
My Growth Mindset Plan is inspired by Dr. Carol Dweck's research, and it has completely transformed my viewpoint on various aspects. I've discovered powerful tools to reshape my approach to learning and teaching. The four-step process has become my foundation for personal development: In my classroom, I’ll model a growth mindset by valuing effort, embracing failures as learning opportunities, and sharing my journey. By fostering a culture of growth, I aim to inspire students and peers to believe in their potential and embrace lifelong learning.
Centered on growth, my Learning Manifeto is a reflection of my educational principles and my commitment to lifelong learning. It represents more than just words on paper—it's a living document that guides my decisions and actions both as a learner and educator. Through this assignment, I discovered that true leaning happens when we embrace challenges, prioritize progress over perfection, and remain confident in our ability to improve.
This semester has been a whirlwind of projects, challenges, research, and countless hours of reading. But here's what I've learned: every challenge is an opportunity to build grit. When facing obstacles, I've started asking myself, "What can I learn from this?" instead of "Why is this happening to me?"
Connecting with other teachers through Professional Learning Networks has been a game-changer for my teaching. I've linked up with educators on social media and forums, sharing ideas and picking up new teaching tricks along the way. Being part of this global teaching community hasn't just given me great resources - it's helped me grow as a teacher and do more for my students. This program has reshaped my understanding of education at its core. I've learned that fostering a growth mindset takes daily dedication, that setbacks are stepping stones to deeper learning, and that flexibility is essential for supporting every student's journey. The simple power of adding "yet" to our vocabulary has revolutionized both my teaching and my own approach to learning. My journey through the ADL program has been documented in my blog reflections, where I've shared both the highlights and challenges I have faced along the way. As I look ahead into the future, I am filled with excitement by the limitless opportunities for ongoing growth and transformation. -LM
