Hello! My name is Lydia McDonald, and I am currently a third-grade teacher at Big Sandy Elementary. I have dedicated the past 16 years of my career to education, with the last 13 years spent in the classroom, nurturing young minds and helping them discover their potential. Teaching has always been my passion, and every day brings a new opportunity to inspire my students.
I’ve been happily married to my husband, Scott, for 14 wonderful years. We are proud parents of two amazing children: our son, Michael, who is attending LIT this year, and our daughter, Maci, who is at UT Tyler. Balancing family life alongside my teaching career has been a rewarding adventure, and I cherish the moments spent with my family.
Academically, I began my journey at Angelina College before completing my education at Lamar University, where I earned my Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science. My passion for education has always driven me to seek opportunities to grow and learn, both for myself and for my students. I believe that learning should be an engaging and enriching experience, which is why I incorporate technology into my teaching strategies. This foundation has been instrumental in shaping my educational philosophy and teaching methods.
In my role as a teacher, I strive to create a warm and inviting classroom where students feel safe to explore, ask questions, and express their creativity. I believe that every child has unique strengths and abilities, and it is my job to uncover and nurture those talents. I am passionate about fostering a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Currently, I am on a digital learning journey, driven by my desire to have a role in technology somewhere down the line. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and the impact I can make in the field of education. My ultimate goal is to enhance the learning experience for students across various age groups. It’s a journey I’m deeply passionate about, and I look forward to what the future holds.
