Spring Break Reset: Preparing for the Busy Final Stretch

3/11/2025

Spring break is here, and while it’s a much-needed pause from school and teaching, I can’t help but look ahead to what’s coming next. The next eight weeks are going to be challenging—balancing my responsibilities as a teacher while keeping up with my coursework in EDLD 5317: Resources for Digital Learning and EDLD 5313: Assessing Digital Learning and Instruction.

The biggest task waiting for me in the classroom is getting my third graders ready for the STAAR test in May. This time of year always comes with pressure, not just for students but for teachers too. Making sure they feel prepared and confident while also keeping them engaged is a delicate balance. I know these next few weeks will be filled with practice tests, targeted instruction, and lots of encouragement to help them push through.

At the same time, my own coursework is about to ramp up. EDLD 5317 and EDLD 5313 both focus on digital learning, which is something I’m passionate about, but I know it’s going to require a lot of reading, research, and application. The part that makes me most nervous is the literature review, because I  know how time-consuming and detailed this process can be. It’s not just about summarizing research; it’s about analyzing and connecting different perspectives in a meaningful way. Finding time to do it while teaching full-time is going to be the real challenge.

Right now, I’m trying to use spring break wisely—resting so I don’t burn out but also organizing my schedule so I can stay on top of everything. Setting clear goals, breaking down tasks, and sticking to a routine will be key to making it through this final stretch.

As overwhelming as it feels, I know that staying focused and taking it one step at a time will get me through. Here’s to finishing strong!- LM
